Other Art

This page includes visual art that doesn't belong in the 'Bizarre Selfie Art' category.

Please note that the piece entitled 'Alonedom' was inspired by (and, more importantly, contains a quote from) a poem by Tanya Davis. That poem was made into a lovely short film by Andrea Dorfman. The two later collaborated to turn the poem/video into a book.

Abstract artwork. A roughly hexagonal section of purple with diagonal ripple marks fades into two pale yellow triangles at the top, and two dark purple triangles at the bottom. Two women in medieval dresses swordfighting in the middle of a crowd of people. The fighters are heightened in colour, brightness, and boldness, whilst everything else is muted, greyish, slightly out of focus. A purple swirly silhouette of a swan above a disembodied arm, above a celtic knotword triskelion, on a mirrored water background.
Flipside In the Middle of it All Undertow
A large bowl with some small pretzels on a table next to some disposable cups, a glass of orange juice, and a jar of pickles. A blue-green silhouette of a swallow with vertical bars along the bottom and clouds along the top. The background is a gradient of magenta on the left fading into yellow-orange on the right. The whole thing is textured with a swirled grid pattern. A tall, grey field with overlapping horizontal bars of pale blue and dusty rose.
Still Life with Pretzels Peace Projections
The top level of a parking garage. The streetlights appear to be smeared vertically, and there is a bar along the bottom which becomes a sharp zigzag for the last little section. A bench appearing to have been built on the surface of water. There are trees surrounded by low wooden barrier fences on either side of the bench. A picture frame filled with large leaves floating on the water.
Untitled Lonely Bench Water Plants
The top of the image is filled with a black-and-white checkerboard pattern. As you look further down the image, squares start to be missing, with the missing squares increasing in frequency until you get to the bottom of the image, where it is pure black on the left and pure white on the right, with a red line separating the two halves. A photo of the sea from a beach, with the words 'I can't help falling in love with you' marked out in the sand of the beach. A moving image of a piece of paper with shadows falling on it. The shadow is of a triangular window decoration, and the shadow is moving around as the light passes through the moving tree branches.>
Checker Fade Untitled Dancing Shadows
A very tall image which reads 'Society is afraid of alonedom, like lonely hearts are wasting away in basements, like people must have problems if, after a while, nobody is dating them. But lonely is a freedom that breathes easy and weightless and lonely is healing if you make it.' As the words progress down the piece, they are accompanied by images that illustrate the point, like a city skyline near 'Society' and a heart floating in the corner of a room near 'lonely hearts are wasting away in basements.' As you move down the image, you start in greyscale but end up in a bright, colourful area at the bottom. A yellow background with random lines and scribbles in blue, purple, and green. A series of blue acrylic gems arranged in a symmetrical pattern on a wooden tabletop marked with a grid.
Alonedom Scratch Gems
A wide image with a photo of a girl talking to a dog in the upper left, a woman handing flowers to another woman in the upper right, and a single tree on a horizon taking up the bottom half of the image. In each of the three sections are one of the words from the phrase 'Do Good Recklessly.' A four-panel cartoon. In the first panel, a man encounters the word 'Thing' in large block letters. He is very excited by the thing. In panel 2, he is showing the 'Thing' to other people, expecting them to share his enthusiasm. In panel 3, the other people are expressing disdain for the 'Thing' as they walk away from it, and the first man. The final panel shows the man sitting sad and alone by the 'Thing,' which he still appreciates. Three women, bent over an unseen object which is glowing bright blue, making them look ethereal and otherworldly.
Do Good Recklessly Sad Cartoon The Witching Hour
A stick figure drawing of a man holding up his hand towards another man, who is screaming and running away. A series of lines converging towards a central point, but those lines are interrupted at regular intervals by gaps. The lines curve into a swirl as they converge at the centre of the image. Some white blobs floating in a blue liquid.
